general_chang: Chang first greeting Kirk (Default)
[This is Princess Rosamund, daughter of the King and Queen Who Weren't Very Good At It. Her father instilled in her the need to regain the kingdom by marrying a prince. But she wasn't going to go the normal route of getting cursed by a bad fairy, nope! She'll be getting her prince her own way, thank you!

By scouring the country for princes that need rescuing be it from dragon, giant worm, ogre or witch.

She's patting the end of her hair to keep them from smoking. Dragons, eh? She looks dissatisfied.]

Another dud. What's a princess to do to get a proper prince for a change?

[OOC: Ok, I'm feeling pretty rotten right now, so forgive any slowness on my part, please. I just wanted to get this up so I don't miss port. Feel free to respond if I organised plot, and I'll tag or backtag when I'm able. For my other characters (Omega, Slater and Seven of Nine) feel free to message me.]

[Bertie answers. He's fallen off the Barge and is dressed like an 18th century fop. He's posting from some dank, dark room.]

What ho, and all that.

I say, if you're looking for a prince, than look no further, for my father was a king, and my mother was a queen and that makes me a certified prince. I can show you my credentials if you like. [He reaches into his waistcoat to pull out his breeding papers and Certificate of Royalty.]

I'd love to chat more, your Highness, but I'm in a bit of a rum stitch with a witch. Or it might have been a goblin. Anyway, it was definitely green. I don't suppose you could see your way to doing a spot of rescuing?

[Rosamund sighs.] Right, where are you.

Well, I'm in a... [He looks around.] ...a room. Yes, definitely a room. A dark room. Underground, perhaps?

[Impatient.] Where were you before the kidnapping?

Oh. Right. I was traipsing through the Rainbow Meadow picking flowers and singing a sprightly tune.

[After his first unsuccessful bout with an admittedly undersized dragon, Frederick supposes he could have had a worse day.

...At least until a larger, actually reasonably respectable dragon lands right on the path ahead of him. This day. It really could be better.

The communicator screen fills up with smoke because Frederick, in his utter terror general clumsiness enthusiasm, dropped it. There's the sound of the aforementioned dragon being rather cranky off-camera, and then Frederick's voice comes on, although it's fairly evident he isn't talking to anyone on the other end.]

Oh, you have got to be kidding. Honestly. I just finished with one of you. Five minutes, that's all I ask. Five. Bleeding. Minutes.. Is that so difficult to grant?

[She eyes the message.] Where are you.

[Blink. Blink. What...? OH. The mirror.]

Two miles out from the village. Past the tree that looks like it's trying to boil something.

...Who is this?

Date: 19/9/11 10:09 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] general-chang.livejournal.com
Princess Rosamund. [Her impatience is borne out of 'you called me, jackass' rather than an expectancy that he would know her.]

Date: 20/9/11 01:12 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] frickinbaretta.livejournal.com
[...Ah. So it does work that way; he'd been wondering what shouting "help" at it would do and...evidently it's this. Okay.]

Funny. Worlds of irony there. So are you going to do something, or are you just going to sit...wherever you are, probably in some sort of cushy castle, and sound imperious?

[Every now and then there's a clanging sound like he's trying to hit something and missing, as well as some growling and a shout of protest. The smoke clears, and Rosamund is now treated to a rather unhelpful view of Frederick attempting to fight off an indeterminate shape. Badly.]

There aren't many princes around. You should search for a knight. Much more common and much more fun.

Date: 19/9/11 12:16 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] general-chang.livejournal.com
Knights don't have kingdoms.

Date: 19/9/11 11:37 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com
I have met some that have large estates that are very like kingdoms.

Date: 20/9/11 01:27 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com
Nearby, I suppose. As the birds fly.

I was only just asking the very same question of my woodland friends.

It is such a chore to find a prince who doesn't set out to do harm to the natural world around us.

Date: 19/9/11 10:13 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] general-chang.livejournal.com
They had no luck either? [Squirrels and birds, no instinct for princes, funnily enough.] Yes, they do tend to stomp on everything. As if we couldn't hear them coming anyway!

Date: 19/9/11 10:29 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] whattheytellyou.livejournal.com
None!

Oh, for a good, gentle prince who loves the forest as I do!

And large, strong hands.

And brown hair, like the earth.

And good breeding. That is important. Good breeding.

Date: 19/9/11 10:48 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] general-chang.livejournal.com
Large kingdom. Possibly someone who runs a bad fairy rehab.

Yes, but horses are near-universally accepted to be faster. And they'll carry your luggage!

Date: 21/9/11 11:41 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] general-chang.livejournal.com
Horses, maybe. Carriages, no. They're cumbersome and not very immovable. And I don't have any luggage! Begone you infernal creature.
