[The images is crackling when it turns on and it doesn't look like it's on on purpose. All the viewer sees between the interference bursts are Chang's hands pouring something into a bowl, candles being the only constant source of light in between the malfunctioning lights. The candles light higher for a second and Chang's hands disappear back into the picture, only the vaguest hints of light framing his ridges, the tip of his nose some of his uniform.]

What are you doing? [He says mostly to warn him that the communicator is on. He actually doesn't worry about whatever it is that Chang is doing. He's just guessing it's supposed to be private.]

[At first, it doesn't appear that Chang notices. Then, when the lightest is at its lowest, he reaches out for the communicator.] It is the Rite of MajQa.

It is of no consequence. The experience can be shared. There is simply no one to do so with.

[Chang pushes out of breath, though he's thinking rather than impatient, Rhade's one of the view he doesn't resent for not understanding, because he'd understand the sentiments.] It is about endurance… Kahless is supposed to appear to the faithful. Or, at least, it is supposed to aid higher thought. [Chang shrugs, if Kahless does appear, well for him, but he's sick of being stuck in a rut, so he's doing something about it.]

My home universe is impossible to return to. Any timeline where I exist is one that's at risk.

I could ask to be placed in the future, but I have a genetic reincarnation. It wouldn't be fair to him or his successes for me to interfere. It's actually taken quite a long time to fully accept that my efforts might be better spent elsewhere.
